After thorough investigating by multiple members of staff on the network (not just those on Armada Files) we have come to the conclusion the proposed 1.2 Patch cannot be hosted by the Filefront Network due to breaches of the Armada II End User Licence Agreement (or EULA). As Fleet Operations uses the same system, this too is in breach and has been removed. Regardless of whether or not Activision or Mad Doc ‘care’, Filefront is unable to host the files as they violate the Terms of Service of Ziff Davis Media (ZDM being the owner of the Filefront Network).
We ask that users do not distribute the above mentioned articles on Filefront (as in, trying to get it put back up on the site or through the forums). Such action will be treated with a severe penalty, likely involving a temporary or permanent ban from the site(s), depending on the severity of the offense.
Such actions as to prohibit or remove files from the site are not taken lightly and we make sure that every case is reviewed as best as possible, with as much detail, people’s opinions taken into account and generally making sure no corner has been left unturned. We are always welcome to new evidence to suggest otherwise, but this decision will not be overruled immediately if new evidence is handed to us. We will take time to review that before turning back time.
Considering the nature of this post, we have locked comments. I’m sure many of you have opinions about this, especially if you were looking forward to the 1.2 patch being released or were about to download a version of the Fleet Operations mod. We understand that you may wish to express your views on it, however in anticipation of a flood of opinions, I have created a thread on GF for you to get your thoughts out.
If you wish to post your opinion please remember that the site rules, as always are in full force.
Once again, we do not take decisions like this lightly. We have looked into it as much as possible and the problem is hosting a legal liability, should the team remove the violations of the EULA then we will be happy to provide hosting for the files.
