Quote:Well, its been a while, nearly two months to be more precise. And being that nearly two whole months have passed, it is once again time for an *Official Update*. I said in a thread I started a week or two ago that I'd post an update directly linked to the Modification nearer to the end of Janurary / beginning of February, and now is as good a time as any to post it.
So, before we get started, I'd like to announce that Avon has joined the Zero Hour Team. So a very warm welcome to him. Now, lets jump back to the past. A thread I made a while back in regards to three ships, some may remember it, if not, then they can go see: Springfield, Cheyenne & New Orleans. There are plenty of Federation ships to go around I know, however I've grown fond of the New Orleans, and notice that a fair number of people have likes for the Cheyenne, thus those two were added. It didn't seem right to do those two with the Springfield (seeing as they all share a similar feel to them), thus that one was added too.
The Cheyenne & New Orleans were straight from Starfleet Command models, and were converted & poly reduced by me, along with having their textures re-adjusted to fit. The Springfield was somewhat complete, though didn't have the under-hull part that has been seen on various models. Thus, that was added via using a Nebula Hull, and re-textured accordingly to provide a complete Springfield.
These three ships will feature in Zero Hour, playable in the 1st release, and most probably Map Units in the 2nd, and 3rd releases.
The other more recent thread was the one on the Hero Units within the Project, again, some of you may have read this, others will not have done, thus for a brief recap, you can view the thread: Zero Hour: Hero Units & Team Information. I don't need to dwell on that much here, for what is discussed in that thread pretty much covers it. If anyone has any question in regards to the Hero Units, I ask that they ask them in that thread, and not this one.
Now, I had wanted the first release of this to be done around Christmas 2006, though that has come and gone. The problem with modifications, is you set yourself on something, thinking there wont be much more to do once you've done a certain task, only for you to finish that task and realise there is much, much more in the works.
However, I've an aim to get this first release to you by the end of March. I turn 20 on the 22nd, so it would be an ideal month to get this released. The 2nd & 3rd releases will come when they're ready.
Now, as with every update, people expect to see pictures, quoting some unknown person:
Quote:Pictures say a thousand words.
Thus, I present to you three Breen Science Stations, kit-bashed by Gavin. The general models parts & textures come from the Fleet Operations Ships & Stations, though I have permission to use them within Zero Hour. Gavin, using his imagination managed to kitbash these to make (from my point of view) some very unique, Breen-looking stations.
Elsewhere, we've decided to add the Remans to the Romulan force, though nothing major. In short, I'm just re-texturing some ships, to give them a new texture. The Shrike, Raptor & Griffin Classes will be used by Romulans & Remans alike. The models, nor texture share much of a difference, but they do serve a purpose, and it saves working on brand new Reman models. To give you an example of what I mean, I'll show you the difference between the two Shrike Classes.
Along with the Remans connected to the Romulans, I am 'pondering' whether or not to put the Son'a (which currently have two ships, one of which is unfinished) with the Dominion, and / or Breen. The reason behind this you may ask? Its pretty simple really, the Dominion nor Breen have enough combat vessels to make a full force. As I've said before, I'd like at least 10 ships per race. Neither the Dominion, nor Breen currently have that many.
And lastly, it was mentioned that an 8th race has been decided on. This I can confirm, though I can't tell you who they are. Including myself, only two people know about them (and they are sworn to secrecy), and I am pretty sure that nobody will see this coming. Avon is the master behind the modelling for these folks, and it has to be said, for someone fairly new to the community, his current work is brilliant. Its a shame that we can't show you.
Now, regardless of whether the first part of Zero Hour is released, there wont be another update until at least, the end of March.
