Federation Weapons - File Description

Balance: 8
Creativity: 7
Installation Instructions: 7

Overall Rating: 7.3

This is a rather comprehensive range of odf standard weapons for the Federation to use. Ranging from the out-of-date Type 9 phaser to the micro-photon torpedo, the weapons are balanced to one another so that obviously, a Type 9 won't be as powerful, or have greater range, then that of the Type 10 or 12 (think Sovereign for that one). Whilst a broad range of different weapons has been covered, it's a shame that there aren't any pulse weapons included here (notably for the Defiant and Achilles) which I think would've made it complete, but, for a very quick and easy download, you could always make your own based off these.

Like other weapon mods, you'll need to add them yourself, which presents the opportunity to give ships double weapons (such as giving an Excelsior dual-Type 9's or the Defiant dual-quantums at for) so it does provide a bit of scope for varying game-play, however it is, at its basics, a simple mod. It does also comes with a file of suggested weapon placements, in case you can't think of what ships should have what armaments. Download if odf modding has got you down, or, you want to see how someone else has balanced their Federation side.

This sounds very good, I'm downloading it now. I think we need more organized weaponry for the game (not like the stock weapons that are almost a total mess).
This is a very good idea. 10/10

If anyone's wondering, the reason I didn't include Pulse Weapons is because I couldn't decide how to do them (3 settings - Low, Medium, High - or 5 - Level 1-5, etc.) I mean with 3 settings you will get turrets doing Starbase levels of damage and Ventures with the Defiants Pulse Phasers. Making 1 for each individual Vessel/Station would also be hard due to power comparisons and I have no idea how powerful an Iwo JIma or Pulse Turret actually is when compared to a Defiant and Starbase!

You have a point there, the balancing of weapons is always hard to make. But (this is my opinion) you could make those 3 levels, and since the Venture class scout only has 1 cannon and the Defiant 4, well, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. the stock turret's power is 1x 75, while a base is 8x 100. And even if you made a turret and a base having the same level of damage, the turret would still be quite weak compared to a base. The Iwo Jima has an intermediate level, but you can change that (oerhaps) to 2x Defiant's pulse cannons (afterall we don't want the enemy ship to be crippled if we want to board it big grin ).
Well, I like this mod because it is very prganized and well thinking in the weapons.
Keep it up

Thanks, ODFs and HP maps seem to be my best focus. I recently submitted the Pulse Phasers. Each Ship/Station has a unique weapon, getting bigger, stronger and with an improved range as the go up the levels. In ascending order they go Venture, Iwo Jima, Defiant, Turret, Starbase (if you use the suggestions included).

Cool work here mate, weapons were the last thing I was actually working on when I was doing Beyond the Horizon, though I had a few more torpedo 'variants' than you do, such as three shot burst launchers for all my torps (Quantum, Photon, Micro-Quantum, Micro-Photon) If anyone is interested I can try to find the files again...

I am interested, because it sounds canon and weapons are always necessary in this kind of games (imagine to make a weapon-less ship, that would be inviting disaster big grin ).

I never thought of Micro-Quantums, were they used in the show?

I don't know if they were used in the show, but I have read about them as alternative warheads for fighters or Runabouts in special missions, however, I do know they were used in the Dominion Wars game in the great Achilles Class.

They were Micro? I thought they were normal Torps.
