DOMINION ULTIMATE UPDATE Patch (version 1.3) by STGamerNew2002

DESCRIPTION:

Greetings! This is ANOTHER UPDATE patch for the 'Dominion Ultimate 1.1 EXE' mod.
This is 1.3 version that includes upgraded features for the Dominion to have like more ships and additional station.

What has been updated in this are:

1) 2 additional ships: Another version of the Dominion Strike Cruiser and Dominion Galaxy Destroyer ships.
2) Another mining station: Dominion Advanced Mining Station and another mining freighter.
3) Poleron Torpedoes are different in color texture for both the Dominion and the Breen
4) Breen Escourt Cruiser has now the missing 'phase cloak' weapon to it.
5) 'Commander Thot Gor Battleship' shows in info screen now.
6) Vorta Commanding Battleship has Sensor Jamming System to it.
7) New texture for the Ketracel-White Station(dketracelwst.sod)
8) Extra Special Weapons and Research Pods: Energy Diminisher & Dominion Fluxwave Weapons (Research Pod #0 & #10 is part of the Advanced Science Station) for the Dominion and: Energy Draining Weapon(Research Pod #9 is part of Advanced Research Station) for the Breen.
9) New color of phasers and torpedoes for BOTH Dominion and The Breen
10) New Ai files for both Dominion & Breen which incorperates:

The Artificial Wormhole station
The Wormhole ships(all of them)
The Dreadnaught Ship
The Missle
The Founder's Yacht
Weyoun's Command Ship
The Destroyer Class Ship
The Strike Cruiser Ship
Research Pod #0 & #10 (Energy Diminisher/Fluxwave Weapons)

INSTALLATION:

This is a SELF-EXTRACTION/'.EXE' program and should be installed/place into your Star Trek Main directory in this way:

C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II


IMPORTANT NOTE:

YOU MUST HAVE these mods installed already for the game to run smoothly: the regular game's 1.1 patch, the DOMINION ULTIMATE 1.1 EXE mod, any previous Dominion ships mods, the lastest Dominion Ultimate Update 1.1 Patch and the CORRECTION Update 1.1 Patch made by STGamerNew2002 pre-installed before adding this Newest 1.3 UPDATE patch! IF NOT, INSTALL THEM ALL first!

'*' - Some files may be OVERWRITTEN like; events.dat, tech1.tt, earlytech.tt, fulltech.tt, freetech.tt, gui_global.spr, weapons.spr, *.cfg & *.spr files THAT you may already edited/modified for personal reasons, so back up your files first before installing! Some files in here are from my personal folders, so some items may NOT be included if they have nothing to do with the Dominion/Breen update. If you're a EXPECT in editing files and don't want your personalized files changed, then I suggest to back-up your personalized/modified files and do what you know best in EDITING!

I CAN NOT/WILL NOT BE HELD FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY UNEXPLAINED DAMAGES/CRASHES TO YOUR COMPUTER, so you install this at your OWN RISK!

I've looked at your 1.3 patch for the first time and I'm downloading it at the time I typed this comment. You said you put a colour change for the Breen and Dominion weapons, so I'll take your word for it. Keep on Trekin! Rock

does anyone else have an error evertime they try and use this race or is it just me. cause i think its the patch it hasnt done it with domultimate 1.1 confused

Hey all,

Thanks for showing continous interest in my 'Dominion Ultimate' mods. This one I feel it's a great one like the previous ones. I like to thank the people who helped me make this possible, as well the others(those people have been credited if they know who they are already). wink Now, let me try to maybe help a couple resonses here:

#1 - You might want to do a search on this sight for all files belonging to STGamerNew2002 and start downloading files from the '1.1 EXE' mod up to the lasted mod.

#2 - _Black_Death_, instead of 'taking my word' of the colour changes you asked before, why don't you try the patch yourself and see that 'my word' is ever TRUE. big grin

#3 - It might be that there's something wrong with your PC. I haven't gotten any kind of report(s) like that of my mods. Have you done any maintenance check on your PC or reinstalling?

Your 1.1 mod is great, nad I have enjoied playing it, however with the 1.3 installed, it crashes the game every time I use the dominion

I even put a fresh install of armada 2 on, got the 1.1 official patch, then put your 1.1 mod on, your update, and the 1.3 mod

(just got the 1.2 mod as well, however the dl failed, so I put the 1.3 on since it said that I didnt need the 1.2, perhaps this is the problem (re-downloading the 1.2 now)

When I choose dominion for the player or the ai, the game crashes jsut as it is about to launch the game.

I dont know if you have any idea what is causing htis, but If there is anything that I can do to help you figure this out, please feel free to ask.

Ok Gamers,

I think a refresher of what mods that was made and are REQUIRED in order to work with this update, so take a LOOK at the list please:

1) Dominion Ultimate (1.1 - .exe version)
2) Dominion Torpedo/Bomber
3) Founder's Private Yacht
4) Dominion Missle
5) Dominion Ultimate 1.1 Update Patch
6) Dominion Ultimate 1.2 The Breen
7) Dom Ult Update Correction Patch
8) Additional Dominion Stations & Workbee Ship

then:

9) Dominion Ultimate 1.3 Update Patch(THIS mod now).

Then these files are OPTIONAL, but NOT required to be used with this 1.3 update patch:

A) Advanced Dominion Fortress(OPTIONAL Choice)
B) Dominion Transwarp Gate Mod (New Installation version) - (OPTIONAL
Choice)

I would strongely suggest that each time you install a Dominion mod here, you check to make sure it fully runs in your game SMOOTHLY and back up each time before installing a new one. Doing it this way LOGICALLY would reduce unexplained crash probs you may experience. 'PRACTICE YOUR MODDING SKILLS, Cadets of this site!' stick out tongue

I did a fresh install, installed the above list in those steps, however, when the dominion is used (all else are fine) the game crashes just before it launches, and gives me a memory reference error

I know that the dominion works up to the 1.2 patch, however I forgot to test the 1.2 before I installed the 1.3, so I do not know if the 1.2 has the same problem.

I am goin gto look at the files myself and make sure that everything looks ok.

Any ideas?

I also added the 2 'optional' ones and tested after adding them, same problem, after glancing at the files I can not see the problem, however I am going to take a more indebth look at it in the morning.

I was playing as breen and found hte following bug:

When you use the science ship to create its gravity push whatever (sorry I forget the name, its the big white circle blast thing)

Just after the animation is done, the game crashes and I get the same memory error that I do when the dominion are used.

Other than that, I did not see any other issues with the breen, and they are quite fun to play smile

OK, Mr. 'Guest' - it seems that you're the ONLY ONE who's having some 'problems' still. Lets see what is it and try to get a better UNDERSTANDING of why:

Maybe PROBLEM ONE here: you DIDN'T do what I've stated/posted above. #2 - The Advanced Battle Fortress and Transwarp Gate mods are just as stated as: "OPTIONAL CHOICES, but NOT REQUIRED for this patch". ANOTHER Problem you might of done here. "Then these files are OPTIONAL, but NOT required to be used with this 1.3 update patch." - as stated already. WHY would you do this if they wasn't mentioned in readme text of this UPDATED patch???

#3 - The Gravistrike Weapon has no known 'bugs' to it. This may be a effectivness of your PC by something overlooked on your part. The 1.2 Breen is so far a SMOOTH, playable race. I honestly haven't gotten any reports of that weapon's crash problem before. That 'memory referance error' message maybe of your PC system. From what I remember, it could be a corrupted file of some sort(?).

"Any ideas?" you asked/say: YES a few of them, but I'll stick to the main ones. First: You didn't FULLY read/understand/do what was suggested in the #7 posting. TRY sticking to what it says. Secondly: If you find your 'problems' abit more 'complexed' to figure out, try EMAILING the original modder personally by EMAIL(in this case ME) so not much POSTING space like this can be saved abit for other readers. Third: Honestly, How are your 'editing/modification skills' in this? I feel that you didn't do a couple things from the past 'Non-EXE' mods of mine like maybe putting the wrong file(like a odf file or something of that) in the wrong folder that may created a crash prob(s) or something of that fact Well, I guest I'll be getting some more 'postings' sooner or later. 'Mr. Guest', if you read this, I hope you take this as a 'more detailed advice' and nothing more than that(?). "Doing it this way LOGICALLY would reduce unexplained crash probs you may experience." - Yep, I said THAT too. Roll Eyes (sarcastic)

I am not sure exactly what is still wrong then, I will investigate further.

Just to answer your question, I have a good deal of 'editing/modification' experience.
My previous experience is thus:
I created the 'Invasion' mod for armada 1. The mod added 2 races to armada1, 8472 and the dominion and a few other things, though I will have to re-release it some day as it seems to have gotten lost with time *note: there was another mod released later by the name 'invasion' I don’t remember who did that one or what it did, but it was not mine)) , and have added a few things here and there to armada 2 (none released),

I just haven’t been around for the last couple years.

I am very sorry for taking up so much space posting here, I misunderstood the purpose of these forums.

Once again, STGamerNew2002, thank you for your efforts in creating this mod, and for your continued help.

Thank you for interest in the previous mods. This patch will NOT 'delete', but REPLACE whatever is in here. If for some how you made any 'personal changes' to the ships in your game and do not want them 'altered', then back them up before installing this mod(stated in readme text). The only new ships in this patch are stated in #1 listings of readme text. Hopes this helps you out? smile

i already had all of the needed mods installed except for the Additional Dominion Stations & Workbee Ship mod. so i downloaded it and put it into the game. the game loaded and everything was fine. then i used the auto-installer and instaleld the 1.3 patch. when i loaded quickbattle the game shut off. "armada.exe has generated errors and will be shut off." something like that. that happened before a long time ago when i tried to install the first dominion mods. i dont like the idea of removing the game and then re-installing all of it since i am starting over on the single player missions. any ideas???

Wow, I should be abit 'honoring' towards you, 'Mr. Vulcan'. I have 'heard' of that mod before, but at a time where I was just a 'newbie' myself of all this modding and didn't know DIDDLING-CRAP of it...until today. However, you must be kinda the 'Capt. Kirk' of modding now since it's been a couple years for ya(just a joke there). Well, all I can say to you is 'brush off those modding skills from the shelf' technique. I can believe you can 'figure it out'.

The new stations like the ketral white station, why cant i build them, is there a limit to how many stations a ship can build, because i cant build them

That station only has the NEW TEXTURE file, not the SOD and ODF files. for that you have to go to the Update 1.1 patch, then, use the NEW TEXTURE from here. The other stations should be buildable for they are listed there - are you sure it's ALL the stations now?

What i meant to say is is there a limit to how many stations a construction ship can build. i got a problem instaling 1.3, but i am fixing it, but the additional stations did not apear when i had 1.1 exe and put additional stions in, do you know what the problem is?

#25 Greathor - Yes, there is a LIMIT in building stations. In the game it's set to build a CERTAIN amount of items on a list in order for the game to run and the construction ship is limited to build certain stations to, so the stations in here was NOT part of the 1.1 EXE. The NEW mining station and freighter here are REPLACEMENTS for the 1.1 version. The TEXTURE for the Ketracel-White station was just a CORRECTION texture, if you already have the station in your game from the 1.1 Update version. I have NO IDEA what that message mean that you got. I never seen that before....does anyone have a clue????

Hello Greathor,

Thank you for telling me you getting crash prob. I might of figured out what could be ONE prob, but I wanted to make sure who else and what is was probs of this. I found out that there's a missing texture file, so that's one down. I'm looking into this some more, but still download this if you like to anyone - I'll get it together.

Now, for your request to make a mod of ALL previous 'Dominion Ultimate mods as a WHOLE is what brings my reason for NOT MAKING IT NOW like that: 'LEARNING TO EDIT/MODIFING game files for YOURSELF'. I'm not trying to be a 'HARD-A$$' of this because THIS is HOW I've learned. If anyone remember the 'Dominion race' mod and how that was at the time. It was a GOOD one too, but many 'bugs' in it. I wanted this mod in my game so badly, as well as OTHERS then, to be in my game, but I didn't know MUCH, if not that NEXT TO NOTHING of modding. I took a BIG step to 'learn' all of this modding skills here by going to forums, asking around and reading all sorts of tips. I went through SO MANY 'crashes' of THIS and THAT of adding, taking out, editing files, etc. And YES, it was so FRUSTRATING then - that I will not lie Yet, as I got to KNOW this site more and more about WHAT IT'S all about and the postings, I got inspired & wanted to 'LEARN MORE' and it's paying OFF in much excitment to me. Got the 'Westworld Book of Modding' and took a BIG challenge in READING THAT many many pages book. I asked MANY questions if needed from other 'skilled modders' of "What & How" questions. I really done alot ON MY OWN just about. And now, here I have made as much as 11 mods, and I had NO intentions of some of them being 'popular' enough to still get some "Your mods are GREAT." compliments(thank you for those still). And I still is LEARNING more and more about modding and I like it. What I'm trying to say is: Don't take the 'Easy Path' all the time if you like adding NEW THINGS to the game. You be amazed on what ONE LEARNS from MISTAKES(or in this case CRASHES) of editing or modding, if they are WILLING to see their 'errors and learn from them'(?)! If you rely on 'AUTO-INSTALLATION' all the time, then one becomes 'lazy' of EDITING/MODDING of this site and maybe more 'dependant'. Then, what will the PURPOSE of INTEREST/EXCITEMENT of 'editing/modding'? All those super big mods like: 'Borg Incursion' , 'Babylon 5 Armada', 'Concept Future', 'Dominion Ultimate', 'Fleet Operations', 'Empire 2', etc. All these I mentioned, these GREAT modders mainly started from LEARNING by mistakes(am I correct, guys?). I bet they also did alot of WORK to get where their mods are now. And now many of them are download in the 3,000+ - I say "Thank you guys, for being MY INSPIRATION to modding ST Armada 2 games." now. So, again it's not because "I DON'T want to...." make a All AUTO-Installation for anyone who wants it(now), but it's a way of 'HELPING OUT' to all/any who really likes to and really wants to know how to MOD, but not the 'easy way' all the times. "In order for a MAN to RUN, he must first LEARN how to crawl FIRST." - just me who said this. Well, I hope I have made it understandably clear of my reason. OH MY GOD ..I LOVE YOUR DOMINION ULTIMATE MOD!!...but how do I add the dominion bomber file....is copying all the files to the desicnated directory enough...or do I still need to edit the tech.tt files??...if so....HOW do you edit these files?? with what kind of program?...PLEASE HELP ME!....the missle, the founders yacht and the dominion bomber is missing in my game......Inspite of this...Your mod is great...and the breen mod is also COOL

OK OK, I getting abit OVERWHELMED by the questions of the mods here - and I'm TRYING to be much patient and appreciated of them all. Yet, some how some of you are JUST NOT GETTING its understanding this time - why??? OK, LETS START THIS AGAIN, shall we? ALL LISTED Dominion mods I've stated in response #7 WORK SMOOTHLY, repeat DOES WORK SMOOTHLY if properly installed! If you just INSTALL THEM just as listed/by release date and instructed, they will WORK with no prob. PLEASE, PLEASE read the README texts of EACH one. If still don't understand, GET that 'WestWorld Book of Modding' and READ THAT. Basic things are in there that MIGHT help you out more. And PLEASE follow #7advice about BACKING UP files when your game runs GOOD before installing a NEW ONE. This tip is BEYOND KNOWN to do and BEST also. That way when probs occur, you can get your game back to that working state and figure it out more detail WHAT may cause the crash prob in the first place. I'm looking MORE into this 1.3 patch and see what may be a PROB here. I asked if anyone else has reported a PROB with THIS 1.3 patch, not the others? confused

I like the Dominion Ultimate mods. They are one of the best mods for Armada II. But now I have got this crash problem with the 1.3 patch too. I installed three times the mods one by one you listed up before. And last time I've created a backup of the game without the 1.3 patch. It works correctly. But when I install the 1.3, the Dominion crashes out, and I've got the same problem with one of the Breen's special weapon. (This was mentioned before too.)
But thank you (I think in everybody's name) for creating the Dominion Ultimate.

Sorry, I said wrong above. I have the crushing problem, when the breen science ship and the big ship you begin with tries to attack, but however this problem doesn't appear with the scout cl***** vessel (I have tested only theese vessels). I don't know very much about modding, but I think the problem is with a type of weapon, or I just made some error during the installation.

Yes, you had to have made a installation error. If it hasn't been done by this 1.3 patch, then you must of done something wrong.

OMG not all of us have time to wait in line at fileplanet and then reverse engineer the game just to play your mod... Take some advice from a REAL mod maker... Make your mod installable but a Sleep deprived computer noob, you will get many happy players and good ratings...

I Mean why put soo much effort and time into something if only a handful have the time to do all this crap? Make it easy for everyone, and everyone will play it...

Hey STGamerNew2002, first off i've got to say, this is the best mod i've seen for this game. Now, i've had absolutely no problem with any of the previous files, but when i install this 1.3 update patch the game crashes before i begin. I feel terrible too, cause i didn't back up before installing this one! Anyways my last question is that if altering the odf's of the original ships in the game through the RSStrek authentic mod will change anything from this mod...that way i can have the dominion and canon ships and weapons. And I THANK YOU for your response of my mods. Despite some other's 'inappropiate posting(s)' one may have to EXPECT, there's always a GOOD insight to look forward to seeing like yours.
Now, for your '1.3 crash' prob, I found the prob. It was the Breen's Phasers files mainly, but I also found a couple other things that are all now FIXED, so I'll be doing a PATCH for this mod(sorry for any who may have experienced this too). For the previous 300+ downloaders, I apolojize to you as well. I hope that I get this patch up REAL SOON for you all. For your next question about 'altering the odf's of the original ships', once you downloaded and added it to your personal game settings, you can do whatever you want to make your game 'cannon'. I know nothing of this 'RSStrek authentic mod', but if you like, go ahead and make your changes. Now, I'm also SHOCKED/ASHAME of you, #48(and any others if done so): BACKING UP YOUR FILES is and SHOULD BE 'PRIORITY ONE' whenever downloading and adding mods to ones game. I won't go into any 'lectures' of that, but YOU SAW IT in my READ ME Text in CAPITAL LETTERS, so.....I'll keep my mouth SHUT of that and hope a lesson was learn for you, 'Cadet'(hahahaha)! Guest, as for your question. It will depend on what level STGamer has modified the ODFs of the stock ships, shipyards and weapons as to whether or not it will be easy or difficult to run RSS as well. If he hasn't edited them at all, there should be no problem copying RSS across after you've installed STGamer's mods in order; as it has no techtree file, it shouldn't present any problems to existing mods (except shipyards, which require a modified build list, but if he's only added new buildyards and left existing ones unchanged, this will be fine). As such, it will only be overwriting stock files, leaving the Dominion Mod files untouched. You may however want to edit some of the Dominion ships in-line with the edits RSS makes, or you may find the Dominion at a significant disadvantage...

STGamer, your mod looks and sounds good. I'll either set aside some time to DL the various elements, or wait until I have broadband internet. But it'll be on this computer somehow...

Thanks for your input on my question Matt_el_G. I think that he did modiify the stock files, cause after i copy all the odf's over, the dominion and the breen are no longer playable, even though their odf's are still there...i'll admit i'm an amateur when it comes to hardcore modding, so...if STgamer, if you would be so kind if possible to let me know which stock odf files your altered, or if you would prefer to do this by email, to stop wasting space here with my silly questions that would be great.

In that case, you may want to install RSS first, as any stock files modified by the Dominion mod will overwrite those of RSS hopefully avoiding conflict. Failing that you could look inside them both and find out which files are the same.

RSSTrek Authentic is one of Matt_el_g's mods (you can find it here http://armada.filefront.com/file.info?ID=24181 ) i think the issue was that the Guest was wondering if the RSS Trek Authentic mod and this mod would work side by side.... and i think the answer was yes so need not worry about it now.

OK, I saw the link. Thanks FileTrekker for telling me. As for the request #54 Guest had of me getting stock odf files, I have to see if I STILL have that. Yet, I very much doubt it since the mod went through alot of changes at the time of developement before its finished results and reputation/downloading is still good for all.

i had the same problem with the 1.3 patch eveything works fine untill i install your newest patch then it crashes at the begining of the game when i try to play as the dominion and an error box comes up saying fatal error in Direct3D. Please reboot.

well i just fond out i have the same proble with the a fuw of the breen ships wepons as well and crashes to the same error box i'll probly look in to fixing this tomarrow since im pritty good with modding wepons but i can't figure out whats wrong with the dominion

I know of the crash reports already for 1.3 and I found out the prob for the Breen - that's being resolved in a 'CORRECTION Patch' coming up soon. As for the Dominion, you must of done something installing wrong for they should be running GOOD here. That I've checked numurous times in this patch and they proven 'all good'. That Fatal error message in you 'DirectX 3D' maybe means you might wanna update it(?).

I dont understand what the problem with the breen is. When i try and play, it sends an error if anyone is playing with dominion, but i could play for about 5 minutes with breen before it crashes. Are you sure its just the breen.

i'll take your word for it if it works on your computer.

OK, gamers - relax. I KNOW of the 'Breen' prob which is: WRONG Phaser odf files and the missing texture of the Dominion Galaxy Destroyer. i found two problems with the breen weapons. 1)in the phasero.odf in the weapons/phaser folder "shotSpeed = 1e6" is wrong chang the "e" to a number. 2) in the brphot3.odf in the weapons/photons folder "ordName = wbrtorp" change "wbrtorp" to "brphotono3"

Thanks for suggestion, but THOSE are already been taking care of. Plus, 'shotSpeed = 1e6' isn't the prob because that's the same info used in other stocked odf files of phasers and they worked.

Well, just wanted to update you guys,
I did find the problem lol, what was going on was that my drive was going bad and cross-linking all of the new files that I was putting on it, causing some odd problems, anyway, fixed the drive, and the mod works smile

Thanks for the extra help. Yeah, they are a few 'impatient' people here as you said and I'm just doing my best to help them out without "doing all the work" for them. The 1.3.1 patch has been available for download if anyone doesn't know of it here. That should resolve anyone's problem from this 1.3 mod patch. cool
